Ever the Brave (Clash of Kingdoms book 2) By: Erin Summerill (Slight Spoilers for First Book)

Book 2 of 2023! Ever the Brave written by Erin Summerill is the second book in the enticing Clash of Kingdoms Trilogy. Britta Flannery's story continues in this intriguing book.

Summary of Ever the Brave: SPOILERS
After saving King Aodren with her newfound Channeler powers, Britta only wants to live a peaceful life in her childhood home. Unfortunately, saving the King has created a tether between them she cannot sever, no matter how much she'd like to, and now he's insisting on making her a noble lady. And there are those who want to use Britta’s power for evil designs. If Britta cannot find a way to harness her new magical ability, her life—as well as her country—may be lost.

Ever the Brave was just as good, if not better than Ever the Hunted. This story concluded the battle between Britta and Lord Jamis and his Mistress. This story had a very fast plot, with fun and intriguing characters. There was also a bit of romance. My only real problem with this story is that the main conflict of both the first book and now the second in the series, Ever the Brave, was concluded and dismissed within 10 pages. No real enticing suspense leading up to the final moment in which the heroes would return victorious. One character died, not even a very important one apparently, as his name was barely mentioned in the later pages of the story. Although this was a nice finish to the story, the "final battle" happened too fast and I feel as if some characters have just been discarded. I am also genuinely confused about what is going to happen in the third book of the trilogy Once a King, as the conflict of the series is already resolved.
